(Daegu English Church) The Red Door is an English speaking Christian church service, downtown Daegu. We are a foreigner and Korean community that meet in St. Francis Anglican Church. We pray, worship and celebrate Holy Communion together every Sunday at 1.30pm. Our community exists to teach faithfully from the scriptures, uphold the traditions passed down to us and bring our faith alive for this generation.
The Anglican communion affirms the authority of the bible in matters of doctrine, and subscribes to the Apostles and Nicene creeds. We uphold the ordinances of Holy Communion and Baptism as the outward, visible signs of God’s inner grace granted to us through our Lord Jesus Christ. Our service is liturgical and as such we speak with one common voice to pray, confess our sins, bring our petitions to God and offer him our praise. Through liturgy morning, evening, weeks, months and seasons are marked as sacred and Holy. This reminds us that all of life, as it is lived in this world, is Gods. Every moment we can direct our hearts, minds and souls to Him for renewal, sustenance, comfort and guidance.
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, dead, and buried:
He descended into hell;
The third day he rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
The holy Catholic Church;
The Communion of Saints;
The Forgiveness of sins;
The Resurrection of the body,
And the Life everlasting. Amen.
(Daegu English Church ) The Red Door works to proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom of God. We want to teach, baptize and nurture new believers. As a congregation we aim to respond to human need through loving service and seek to transform unjust structures in society. We affirm the integrity of creation and the sustaining and renewing of life on earth.
Meaning of the Red Door
Traditionally, there are many reported meanings of having a red church door. Maybe they symbolize the shed blood of Christ as he died for us, or maybe they tell us that the place beyond the door is Holy, somewhere you are safe from harm. Whatever the reason from history we’d like to invite you to come into our sanctuary, to leave the outside world behind and find peace here.
John 14:6. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth and the life; no-one comes to the father, but by me.”
